Mangrove Forest
According to the World Wildlife Fund, mangrove forests are productive ecosystems that provide for both marine life as well as the people living in the area. These forests serve as homes for fish, crabs, and shrimps, among others. In addition, mangrove wood is resistant to wood rot and insects, which makes them ideal construction materials for people living in the coastal areas. The dense root system of mangrove also allows them to stabilize the coastline since they prevent erosion and offer protection against storm surges.
Mangrove Forest in Pinamungajan
The town of Pinamungajan has a mangrove forest that supports the rich marine ecosystem of its coastal areas. This mangrove forest can be seen at the point where the land intersects with the sea. While the forest is already massive in itself, a project initiated by Mayor Glenn Baricuatro further enhanced it.
