Peace And Serenity At Turtle’s Point - Catmon

10/1/2016

Comments

Weekends are normally reserved for a day at the beach to recharge one’s energy after a whole week at work. But, these days the beaches close to the city are likely to be filled with people with the same idea. While a weekend at the beach is the best way to revitalize oneself after a stressful week at work, there are times when people may just need some tranquility away from the city.

There is one place up north where you can find the serenity you seek, Turtle’s Point in Catmon. Located around 50 kilometers north of the Queen City of the South, Turtle’s Point is a quaint little place where you can spend the day reading a good book while listening to the gentle crashing of the waves.

The place is perfect for a small gathering of friends and family or a romantic rendezvous with one’s partner. It has two rooms, a gazebo and grilling area. While the beachfront may not have the wide white sand typical of many beaches in Cebu, it offers a magnificent view of the vast expanse of the sea.

The Rest House

The rest house at Turtle’s Point features two bedrooms, a fully functional kitchen with a stove, grill and refrigerator, and a grilling area along the beachfront. One of the rooms is fully air-conditioned while the second room has an electric fan. The veranda can also be used as a sleeping area since it has three beds.  Guests are provided two gallons of water each day by the caretaker.  They can make use of the hot and cold water dispenser in the kitchen. To make things better, guests can cook their own food at the place and there is no corkage for food brought to the place.

Security will not be a problem since only the guests are allowed to enter the place and it is right across the Binongkalan Barangay Hall. For guests bringing a vehicle, parking will not be a problem since the parking space is big enough to fit three vehicles.

Renting the Turtle’s Point rest house costs PHP 6,000 per night during the weekend and PHP 4,000 per night on weekdays.  But, there are also some instances when the place has a promotion where the weekend rate goes down to PHP 5,000 per night.

Getting to Turtle’s Point

The journey to Turtle’s Point starts at the North Bus Terminal where you should hop on a bus bound for the municipality of Catmon. It will be necessary to tell the driver that you need to get off at Binongkalan, Catmon, which is at the KM 46 mark. The rest house is located just across the Binongkalan Barangay Hall.

Weekends are normally used to recharge one’s energies after a whole week at work. One of the best ways to recharge is a relaxing day at the beach with a book in one hand, a great view and all the time in the world . . . well, that is until the weekend ends.
