Long before the clown and the walking bee landed on the shores of the Queen City of the South, Cebu already had Orange Brutus. The company was established in 1980 by two entrepreneurs with the drive to make a statement in the food retail industry of Cebu. It was the first home-grown hamburger chain in city, which was a daring move since the hamburger was a new thing food Cebuanos at that time. The first store the company opened was in Colon Street, which was the business hub of Cebu during that time. They offered innovative food items at reasonable prices. Their charbroiled burgers and fresh fruit shakes became instant bestsellers. Fast forward to 2016, Orange Brutus continues to tickle the taste buds of Cebuanos. From its first store in Colon, Orange Brutus has around twenty locations all over the island. While it has a number of items added to its menu since it first started over three decades ago, its Sizzling Burger Steak and Fresh Fruit Juices continue to be the crowd favorites. The burgers are charbroiled to maintain a low cholesterol level. They also do not pre-cook their burgers. On the other hand, the company uses the freshest fruits for its thirst-quenching shakes, which come in a number of flavors, including mango, buko, ube, chocolate, and orange. Offering vegetables as the side dish for its menu items shows its effort to promote healthy eating among its customers. Orange Brutus also offers no-meat dishes, like their vegetable lumpia and Sizzling Fish Fillet. Special occasions also call for special dishes, such as their Fish Fillet meal and Fish Filletious burger for the Lenten Season. Another food item Cebuanos may crave for if they are not in Cebu is the Chocolate Monster. For those who have not tried this delectable dessert, after a slice you will likely order the whole cake. Orange Brutus is already an institution in the Queen City of the South giving Cebuanos its first taste of fast food cuisine. It offered appetizing dishes at reasonable prices. Even with the entry of bigger fast food companies, it continues to be among the favorite eating places of Cebuanos because as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Well, in this case, the proof in the pudding is eating at Orange Brutus, the home of the best sizzling burger steak and fresh fruit shakes.
