To commemorate the death of one of the most beloved Philippine presidents, a trek is organized every year. It has an elevation of 1,003 meters above sea level and is one of the highest mountains in Central Cebu. Due to its place in history, the mountain can be considered an easy trek since it can be easily accessed through a road off the Cebu Transcentral Highway. It is ideal for weekend warriors looking to stretch their muscles at the end of an arduous week at work.
But, if you are looking for a certain level of difficulty, you can start your climb at the foot of the mountain in Tagba-o or Tabunan. While there are no prominent obstacles to deal with in this trail, the absence of forest cover adds to the difficulty level for first timers, especially if the trek is done when the sun is at its peak.
A monument of the late president and a cylinder block from the engine of the plane marks the location of the campsite. The campsite itself has a number of modern amenities, including showers and comfort rooms. There are also some houses and stores close to the campsite.
