The term hamburger was taken from the name of the second largest city in Germany, Hamburg. There are a number of stories about the origin of the hamburger. The Hamburg Sausage is a recipe included in the "The Art of Cookery made Plain and Easy" of Hannah Glasse. Another claim indicates that the snack originated from the Rundstück warm or bread roll warm. Emigrants supposedly ate it on their way to America. It used roasted beefsteak instead of Frikadeller. Whatever its origin, the hamburger is already a part of the culture of Filipinos. This is evident on the number of burger places all over the archipelago. Cebu has its own share of burger places including a number of major fast food chains. But there are some burger places that may be smaller in scale but have attracted the attention of food-loving Cebuanos. One of these places is Burgaholic. Burgaholic is a hole-in-the-wall burger place offering delectably delicious burgers. The place offers charbroiled burgers at a reasonable cost. It is a no-fuss eating place where the burgers are charbroiled in front of the customers. The owner, Juan Ismael Arceo, started the business due to his love for food and the need for a distraction from the daily grind at work. The place already has a following among the food lovers in the city. In fact, guests should expect the place to be packed especially on Fridays and Saturdays. This is understandable since the place is only open from 7:00 PM to 1:00 Am from Monday to Saturday. Burgaholic is located along M. H. Yap Street and close to Sacred Heart Hijas de Jesus. They offer the Classic Hamburger, The Quarter Pounder and The Half Pounder. The price of the Classic hamburger is at PHP100 while The Quarter Pounder is priced at PHP175. On the other hand, guests can order The Half-Pounder at PHP295. In addition to the burgers, Burgaholic also offers baby back ribs, which they call Rib-o-holic. The price of the baby back ribs depends on the weight and can range between PHP250 and PHP300. Burgaholic is gradually becoming one of the places where people go to for great-tasting charbroiled burgers at a reasonable cost. Have you gone to Burgaholic already?
