Comments

Cebu has a number of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Some of these treasures have remained undiscovered while the popularity of others is gradually increasing. While a good number of these places are located a few hours away from the city, the time spent for traveling is worth it.

One of the places where you can find a hidden paradise hidden within a secluded area is the municipality of Aloguinsan. The town is actually known for its river cruise traversing the Bojo River, but the place also has a number of pristine beaches that can rival the best major tourist sites can offer.

Hermit’s Cove is a white sand beach located in a secluded area in Kantabogon, Aloguinsan. It may have remained a hidden paradise for some time since the road going there is a bit narrow. There are also a few signs pointing to the place, which means people will have to ask the locals for directions. The place is called Hermit’s Cove since a hermit supposedly discovered this hidden paradise and lived there a long time ago. The name of the barangay where the place is situated was said to be based on the name of the hermit, which was Tabogon. When people referred to the place, they called it “Kang Tabogon” or “owned by Tabogon.”

Entrance Fee

Due to the increasing popularity of the place, the local government unit of Aloguinsan in cooperation with the Department of Tourism started to regulate the entry of visitors. It will be necessary for visitors to register as tourists at The Farmhouse before they can stay at Hermit’s Cove. A registration fee of PHP 100 is now required. The registration fee also serves as the entrance fee of the place.

There are a number of cottages at Hermit’s Cove, which visitors can use for free. Visitors should take note that the place is only open until 5:00 PM, which means an overnight stay is out of the question. But, you can stay in another beach paradise in the town of Aloguinsan, the Hidden Beach.

Getting To The Hermit’s Cove

Getting to the Hermit’s Cove in Aloguinsan is easy. All you need to do is to take a bus ride to Aloguinsan from the South Bus Terminal. The best time to travel to Aloguinsan is early in the morning since you will likely ride a non-air-conditioned minibus on your way to the town. Visitors going to the Hermit’s Cove should stop at The Farmhouse before proceeding to the beach. It will be necessary to take a “habal-habal” or motorcycle-for-hire ride to Hermit’s Cove.
