A trip to the northern part of Cebu brings you to new places full of fun and wonder. While many of the best beaches in the world are found in the mainland, the islands close to Cebu also offer something fun to local and foreign visitors. One of these islands is located off the coast of the northern town of Medellin, Gibitngil Island or Funtastic Island.

Gibitngil Island

Gibitngil Island is popularly known as Funtastic Island. It is a project of the local government to spur tourism in the area. It is a resort featuring colorful cottages situated on top of corals and black rocks. The waters surrounding the island are crystal clear while the white sand beach beckons to anyone looking to have a fun yet relaxing weekend in northern Cebu. Some people refer to Gibitngil Island or Funtastic Island as a little Palawan due to the walls of rocks along parts of the island.

The island is quite safe since it is closely monitored by the residents of the area and the local government. In addition, the place is also a marine sanctuary, which is guarded by the local Bantay Dagat personnel.
