When the Spaniards came to the Philippines, they built churches in different town around the archipelago. In addition, they converted many of the natives who took to Christianity like duck to water. Due to this, most of the heritage sites in the country are churches and old Spanish houses. But, there are some places in the island of Cebu where you can find structures you do not typically see in the country. One of these places is the southern town of Argao.

The Riverstone Castle Resort is a tropical castle resort designed by Raphael Lemmens, a Belgian national. It was built in 2002 in memory of Jesus Galegos, one of the renowned artists who came from the town. It is not an ordinary resort that looks like a castle from the outside since it has a drawbridge, battlements, towers, and a small moat. You may even find a crocodile or two in the moat.
