James Beard couldn’t have said it better since food has a way of bringing people together. This is particularly true when it comes to Cebuanos and Filipinos in general. Aside from the dining room being one of the most important areas in the house, the Queen City of the South has a good number of restaurants dotting its landscape. Cebuanos love to eat and, boy, do we love to eat.
Aside from the regular restaurants offering plated or set meals, there are also a number of restaurants offering an eat-all-you-can buffet for anyone who is hungry enough to eat a horse or something. The following restaurants are some of the establishments in the Queen City of the South offering a variety of food items that you can eat to your heart’s content.
The Port Restaurant is one of the leading buffet restaurants in Cebu that has filled the appetite of Cebuanos with Home-made Filipino dishes since 1998. The restaurant was proclaimed by Sun.Star as the Best Buffet in Cebu in 2014. The restaurant is one of the favorite places for Cebuanos who want to celebrate a major event in their lives, be it a birthday, graduation, or a simple family gathering. Among the dishes offered in the buffet are Filipino classics like Lechon Kawali, Kare-Kare, Pork Humba with Egg, and Sizzling Bangus, among others.
The Grand Majestic Buffet Restaurant is one of the restaurants located at the Grand Convention Center. The restaurant offers a variety of Filipino dishes with Chinese influence. Aside from the delectable Filipino cuisine, the buffet also features an international section offering Japanese and Chinese dishes, among others. The place also has a steak carving station along with a salad and dessert bar. The quality of the food at the restaurant is maintained by food technologists stationed at the kitchen.
While Yakimix is a relatively new buffet restaurant in the Queen City of the South, it already has ten branches in Manila and one each in Davao City and General Santos City. The restaurant offers a huge variety of dishes to satisfy the craving of Cebuanos for Asian cuisine. Majority of the dishes offered at the place are Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Filipino dishes. But, the main feature of the restaurant is its smokeless grill, which is the biggest in Cebu. Diners can choose from a variety of marinated meat to cook on the smokeless grill, which can be found on each table. When Yakimix first opened its doors to Cebuano diners, the place was immediately filled with diners.
One of the latest buffet restaurants to open its doors in the Queen City of the South is Vikings Luxury Buffet. The restaurant features eleven buffet stations offering Filipino, Italian, Chinese and Korean dishes, among others. The restaurant is located in SM City Cebu and is the ninth outlet opened by Pacific Apex Food Ventures, Inc, which also operates two other buffet brands in the country.
