The Baño sa Poblacion was the place where the locals first interacted with the Spaniards. The place is where a gushing spring is located. The spring provided for the water needs of the peple people in the area. It was supposedly in this place where Boljoon got its name. According to a story, when the Spaniards arrived they asked the locals for the name of the place. Due to the language barrier, the locals did not understand what the Spaniards were asking. They answered “bulho,” which referred to the gushing water in front of them.
