Tuburan is a quiet coastal town that is the hometown of Arcadio Maxilom, one of the leading figures in the Philippine revolution. The town owes its name to the good number of springs in the area. The term “tubod” is Cebuano for spring. These springs were the source of potable water for early settlers in the area. In fact, nearly all barangays in the town have their own natural spring and the annual festival of the town is called the “Tubod Festival.”
The journey to the Marmol Cliff starts at the Cebu North Bus Terminal. Just hop on a bus going to the town of Tuburan. Travel time to the town is around three hours depending on the traffic. After reaching the town, you can get a ride on a motorcycle for hire to take you to the place. If you are bringing your own vehicle, it is advisable to leave it in the town since it will be necessary to go through the river to get to the cliff. It is better to hire a motorcycle in going to the cliff since the drivers know how to go through the river using its shallow parts.
