The town of Alegria is located in the southwestern coast of Cebu. The town was once a part of Malabuyoc. It was originally called Tuburan due to the presence of springs in the area. After the leaders of the place successfully petitioned their separation from Malabuyoc, they also asked the Cebu governor to change the name of the place to Alegria to avoid confusion with other places on the island that carried the same name.
The Cambusay Cave is not quite challenging for newbies to explore. Similar to the Salay Cave, you can explore this cave in less than an hour. Even as it may be rather easy to go around the cave, it is still advisable to bring a guide with you, especially if you are still learning the ropes in spelunking or caving. The entrance to the Cambusay Cave is suitable enough to allow anyone to enter. It is also big enough to let some light into the cave itself.
You can reach Cambusay Cave by getting on a bus headed for Alegria at the Cebu South Bus Terminal. Once you reach the town, head over to the public market where you can hop on a motorcycle for hire to take you to the jump-off point for Cambusay Cave.
